The magazine has a section dedicated to featuring mood boards from various art and creative directors – Greg got really into the idea and it was fun to see what he and his staff came up with. I got a little tour of Burton while we scouted for portrait spots – the Burton crew was super accommodating and helpful in pulling off the shoot, and I had a great time meeting both Greg and his pup Aiko – who was super well behaved!

Location portraits, reportage and music photography: my three favorite things to shoot! Matis and his crew were super laid back and professional, and great to hang out with all day. Billboard sent up a team from New York including a video crew, all of whom did a fantastic job – check out the full On the Road feature here. A slideshow of my images can be found here. In addition to veteran performers such as Phish drummer Jon Fishman, the band also included Aram Bedrosian, a supremely talented bassist hailing from Burlington. Though I’d met him several months before, it was my first time seeing him live onstage. I’m not a musician, but it doesn’t take one to know that Aram kicks ass on the bass.

Aram is a soloist, ensemble player, teacher and composer – you can occasionally catch him guest-playing with visiting bands such as Beats Antique, and he’s about to release a new album, A Dark Light. Check out a preview of the album here and stay tuned on his website for details. He’ll also be playing with Touchpants again at Nectar’s on April 20. Cheers!

Looking back, I can honestly say 2012 was an incredible year. After wrapping up a crazy busy fall with tons of assignments, weddings and commercial work, my partner Judd and I took off for a whirlwind trip through Australia and New Zealand (images to come!), getting back just in time for the holidays. We rang in the new year with Phish at Madison Square Garden and are finally back in Burlington – and ready to tackle 2013!

I wanted to share a portrait I made in the fall of the lovely Kat Wright (of Kat Wright and the Indomitable Soul Band) for my BTV50 project. I actually know Kat from my hometown of Rochester and randomly ran into her at Radio Bean a few years back. She’s been making headlines with her band, where she leads on vocals – they opened for Rubblebucket during a NYE run at Higher Ground and have been putting on some amazing shows in the area. Follow them on Facebook and check out this sweet music video our studiomate Matt Day recently made for them – these guys are going places!
