Check out the New Yorker’s write-up, favorite photos and interview with Alec Soth here, and the group’s Postcards From America Tumblr here. There’s an eerie familiarity that compels me to go back and revisit the places I’ve been before.

I photographed the two for a piece on parent-child businesses in the Small Business section of the Journal – this was, technically, one of the most challenging assignments I’ve had thus far. Because Arian runs the business out of his bedroom, I was limited to one room (albeit a very nice room), and the weather outside was gray and dark, so despite the large windows I had to rely almost entirely on a handheld flash.
