One of the greatest things about going out on random assignments and meeting random people is, you find out about things that you never knew existed. Such as: The most expensive jigsaw puzzle ever created (making it into the 2000 Guinness Book of World Records) was hand-built right here in Vermont, by Stave Puzzles, where I photographed yesterday for a last-minute Wall Street Journal assignment. Stave Puzzles hand-crafts and hand-cuts each of their puzzles by eye, from simple two-dimensional mini puzzles to large, three-dimensional and complex puzzles that cost thousands of dollars.
The piece is about discounting and small retailers, and is timely considering the quickly approaching holiday season. I had a great time photographing Steve, the owner, and learning a few new things on what otherwise would have been an ordinary Tuesday. Check out the piece here and hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
